Asbestos Awareness Week 2020

The Asbestos Awareness Week for 2020 this year has the message: “Asbestos Lurks in More Places than you Think”. 

Many people are not aware that asbestos still exists in homes built before 1990. The danger is that when people are carrying out even minor repairs and home improvements, the asbestos fibres can easily become friable and be inhaled. During the COVID lockdowns this year, householders have particularly embraced DIY on their homes, without realising the dangers. 

During this Asbestos Awareness Week, we want to reinforce the message for people to know the risk, to be aware of where asbestos may be found before starting work, and to call a professional for help and advice.
